10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CSHSAA
10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CSHSAA
- We are a nonprofit association between and funded by the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District that has been in existence for over 100 years.
- Our association does not charge families any money to take part in our leagues. All athletic fees are school based and monitored.
- Student’s eligibility to be involved in CSHSAA athletics is monitored by the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA)and their policies….see www.asaa.ca
- Each of our schools has designated feeder junior high schools as outlined by school board policy.
- Each school team must be supervised by an ATA certified teacher of the school jurisdiction to which that school belongs.
- All member schools of the CSHSAA and anyone directly connected to the school must refrain from recruitment or other forms of undue influence that would encourage a student to enroll or transfer for primarily athletic purposes.
- Students who transfer high schools within Alberta are ineligible for interscholastic competition until they establish their eligibility through the established ASAA process.
- Each sport has a specific season of play that can be found on the calendar of events posted on the CSHSAA website....calgaryhighschoolsports.ca
- Students are not able to compete for clubs teams during our season of play for the same sport…they would be deemed ineligible…EXCEPTIONS: soccer, field hockey and individual sports.
- The CSHSAA is administered by:
- Executive Council comprised of several high school principals and a director from each school board
- the Executive Director
- an Administrative Assistant
- specific sport chair people
